Receipt Scanner & Expense Tracker for Gig Workers
Track mileage, scan receipts, and maximize tax deductions for Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, and Instacart.
Gig workers leave thousands in tax deductions on the table every year — mostly from untracked mileage and lost receipts. SparkReceipt's AI captures every gas receipt, parking charge, and vehicle expense automatically. Combined with mileage tracking, you get a complete picture of your deductions in one app. Free to start. No credit card required.
Track Every Deductible Mile and Receipt
Mileage and expenses in one app — not two
Most gig workers use a mileage tracker for miles and a separate app (or nothing) for receipts. That means gas station fill-ups, parking charges, tolls, and car washes slip through the cracks — even though they’re deductible on top of the standard mileage rate.
SparkReceipt’s AI receipt scanner captures every vehicle-related receipt the moment you get it. When mileage tracking launches, your trip log and your receipts will live side by side — with one report for your accountant.
One App for Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, and More
Track expenses across every platform you work on
Driving for multiple platforms? SparkReceipt keeps everything organized in one place. Scan receipts from gas stations, track vehicle maintenance costs, and categorize expenses by platform or vehicle.
At tax time, generate a single expense report with every deduction categorized for Schedule C — mileage, vehicle costs, phone bills, supplies, and more. No more digging through email for Uber trip summaries or lost DoorDash receipts.
How It Works for Gig Workers
From the road to tax filing in three steps
Capture Receipts Between Rides and Deliveries
Snap a photo of gas station, parking, toll, and maintenance receipts with your phone. SparkReceipt’s AI reads the vendor, amount, date, and tax instantly — even from crumpled or faded receipts. Forward email receipts from rideshare platforms, insurance providers, and phone carriers automatically.
AI Categorizes Your Gig Expenses Automatically
Every receipt is sorted into Schedule C categories: vehicle expenses, phone and internet, supplies, insurance, and more. SparkReceipt learns your spending patterns and gets smarter with every receipt. Tag expenses by platform (Uber, Lyft, DoorDash) or vehicle if you use multiple cars.

Gig Worker Expense Tracking FAQ
What tax deductions can Uber and Lyft drivers claim?
Rideshare drivers can deduct business mileage (72.5¢/mile in 2026), parking fees, tolls, phone and data costs, car washes, vehicle maintenance, insurance, and supplies like phone mounts and chargers. All of these are reported on Schedule C. See our full guide on self-employed mileage deductions.
Can I track mileage and receipts in one app?
SparkReceipt is building mileage tracking directly into the app — so your trip log and vehicle receipts will live side by side. In the meantime, SparkReceipt already captures all your vehicle-related receipts, gas fill-ups, and maintenance costs. Read more about why you need both a mileage tracker and receipt scanner.
Do I need to keep gas receipts if I use the standard mileage rate?
You don’t need gas receipts for the mileage deduction itself — gas is included in the 72.5¢/mile rate. However, parking fees and tolls are deductible on top of the standard rate, so you should keep those receipts. If you ever switch to the actual expense method, you’ll need gas receipts too.
How do I track expenses for multiple gig platforms?
SparkReceipt lets you organize expenses using tags and sub-accounts. Create separate tags for Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, or Instacart — or simply let AI categorize all your expenses into Schedule C categories regardless of platform. At tax time, you file one Schedule C with all your self-employment income and expenses combined.
What happens if I don't track my business miles?
You lose money. At 72.5¢/mile, missing just 100 miles per month costs you $870/year in lost deductions. Full-time gig workers who don’t track mileage can miss $10,000+ in annual deductions. The IRS requires a contemporaneous mileage log — you can’t reconstruct it later.
Can my accountant access my expense data?
Yes. SparkReceipt includes free guest access for your accountant or tax preparer. They can view all your organized receipts, expense categories, and reports — no extra subscription needed.
